PLANETARY is a cross continental cinematic journey that explores our cosmic origins and our future as a species, PLANETARY is the follow-up to the award-winning short film ‘Overview’ which was featured on Vimeo Staff Picks before going on to receive over 7 million views to-date. The film captivated audiences with astronauts’ stories of what it means to see the Earth from space and its success was a driving force behind the decision to make a feature length film. Sir Richard Branson called ‘Overview’ “An exceptional documentary” and NPR, Cosmos and Culture called it “Breathtaking”.
PLANETARY is a poetic and humbling reminder that it's time to shift our perspective. We have forgotten the undeniable truth that everything is connected. PLANETARY asks us to rethink who we really are, to reconsider our relationship with ourselves, each other and the world around us - to remember that: we are PLANETARY.
In a stunning visual exploration, the film interweaves imagery from NASA Apollo missions with visions of the Milky Way, Buddhist monasteries in the Himalayas, and the cacophonous sounds of downtown Tokyo and Manhattan, with intimate interviews from renowned experts including astronauts Ron Garan and Mae Jemison (the first African American woman in space), celebrated environmentalist Bill McKibben, National Book Award winner Barry Lopez, anthropologist Wade Davis, to National Geographic Explorer Elizabeth Lindsey, and Head of the Tibetan Buddhist Kagyu school, the 17th Karmapa. They shed new light on the ways our worldview is profoundly affecting life on our planet.

PLANETARY este o calatorie cinematografica continentala care exploreaza originile noastre cosmice si viitorul nostru ca specie. PLANETARY este un follow-up la scurtmetrajul premiat “Overview”, care a aparut pe Vimeo Staff Picks avind la moment peste 7 milioane de vizualizari. Filmul captiveaza publicul cu istoriile astronautilor despre aceea cum e sa vezi Pamintul din spatiu, ceea ce a fost o forta motrica in luarea deciziei de a face un film de lung metraj. Sir Richard Branson a numit “Overview” – “Un documentar de exceptie”, si NPR, Cosmos and Culture a comentat astfel – “I-ti taie respiratia”.
PLANETARY este o amintire poetica si umilitoare ca acum este momentul de a schimba perspectiva noastra. PLANETARY ne cere sa regândim cine suntem cu adevarat, sa reconsideram relatia noastra cu noi însine, si cu lumea din jurul nostru - sa ne amintim ca suntem PLANETARI.
Într-o cercetare vizuală uimitoare, în film se împletesc imagini de la misiunile NASA Apollo cu viziuni de Calea Lactee, manastiri budiste din Himalaya, și sunetele cacofonice din centrul orasului Tokyo și Manhattan, cu interviuri intime cu experți de renume, inclusiv astronauții Ron Garan și Mae Jemison (prima femeie afro-americana în spațiu), celebrul ecologist Bill McKibben, castigator al premiului “National Book” Barry Lopez, antropolog Wade Davis, exploratoarea “National Geographic” Elizabeth Lindsey, și șef al școlii budiste tibetane Kagyu, al 17-lea Karmapa.
